eBay Announces Recycling Program

By Rachel Cericola, Jan 14, 2005

There are new computers, audio, video and other gadgets coming out every day. It's hard to not want to buy what's newer, bigger and (hopefully) better. We all have that attachment to our first TV or MP3 player, but out with the old and in with the new --- and believe it or not, it's NOT a good idea to just stack old devices in your garage or basement, even if you have the space to spare.

Sure there are plenty of ways to recycle your old equipment. But your friendly onlne yard sale, better known as eBay, has launched a "reuse and recycle" intiative. Instead of just trading in or trading up, your old equipment can actually make a difference to a charity.

eBay's Rethink Initiative also includes big-wigs like Intel, Apple, Gateway, HP, IBM and Ingram Micro. Oh --- and the EPA, the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition, UPS and the U.S. Postal Service, among others.

Log onto the site and learn more about how you can recycle or even post your old stuff on eBay and donate the proceeds (or even part of them) to charity.
