Prismiq Launches Commander

By Rachel Cericola, Nov 16, 2005

It's 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night and your kid is locked in his room. Do you know where he or she is surfing? With everything out on the Web right now, you sometimes might wish that your kid would sneak out instead of staying glued to the PC. Instead of just assuming that your kids are smart, now you can double-check on them with Prismiq's Commander router.

This wireless unit allows you to monitor all of the traffic on your home network. It logs all chat sessions, Web URLs and email. Also, based on your preferences, you can block specific sites, email addresses and IM accounts.

I know that no one wants to play Big Brother, but the fact is: The Internet can be kind of a scary place. Maybe your kids will be a little more aware if they know they might be watched. Unfortunately, I also see this problem potentially causing some marital difficulties, where one spouse wants to spy on the other -- but Prismiq has plenty of good intentions.

TechLiving regular John Brandon wrote a recent review for Laptop magazine. For $79.95, it's a decent deal if you are worried about your family's Internet activities.
