Real Offers Web-Based Rhapsody

Talk about trying to corner the market. CNN Money says that Real Networks is trying to get its Rhapsody music service out to everyone and anyone that wants to use it.

Formerly just a PC-based application, the company is planning to offer the service to both Mac and Linux users, with additional access for all through the Internet. The service used to have you download an application to launch through your desktop.

Starting today, you can access Rhapsody.com through the Web. Even existing subscribers can reap the benefits, which is great if you don't want to download the application to your work computer, in a hotel, or even from a cell phone. Gotta figure out some way to keep up with the iTuneses of the world, you know.

Not surprising, Napster has also said it's planning its own Web-based version of their musical product. Both services are very similar in functionality as well as price.
